The Solheim Cup is a biennial women’s golf competition featuring the 12 best European players from the Ladies European Tour (LET) and the 12 best US players from the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour (LPGA).
For the first time ever, the Solheim Cup travels to the Finca Cortesin resort in Andalucia, Spain. Since its unveiling in 2007, Finca Cortesin has hosted numerous world-class events, including the Volvo World Matchplay on the European Tour in both 2009 and 2011. After sealing its place among the very best golf courses in Europe in a relatively short time, this Costa del Sol classic is now set to welcome the best of the best in women’s golf at the 2023 Solheim Cup.

Golf is a game of misses, and the winners are those who have the best misses

Like the Ryder Cup, the Solheim Cup is played in a similar format over three days with eight foursomes, and eight four-balls played on days one and two. The inaugural event of the Solheim Cup was held in 1990, and since then has been played almost every alternate year.
This now prestigious event has made history since its inception and continues to showcase the best of women’s golf, whilst alternating between exceptional venues across Europe and the United States. Let Premier Golf create a tailored package for you to watch the 2023 Solheim Cup and soak up the incredible atmosphere.
Designed by Cabell B Robinson, who is one of the most influential architects in European golf, this 18-hole championship course is truly eye-catching in its design. Finca Cortesin is rated amongst Spain’s best golf courses by Golf Digest and is now arguably one of the best courses in the Costa Del Sol.
The players from Team USA and Team Europe can expect plenty of room in which to maneuver off the tee, but stray too far from the middle of the fairway, and Finca Cortesin will really show its teeth. Thick scrubland typically associated with the Estepona Mountains waits for any sufficiently stray shots, as well as plenty of water hazards, large gleaming white bunkers and dramatically undulating putting surfaces, which all add to the exciting challenge.
The Don Pepe Hotel was wonderful in so many ways…the breakfast buffet was huge with omelets made to order, fresh fruit, cheeses, etc. Our welcome dinner the 1st night was great. The hotel swimming pool with plenty of lounge chairs was wonderful. The location next to the “boardwalk” with dining nearby was great. I tried several of the restaurants at the hotel and had tasty meals at each one. Buses to the Solheim Cup worked out fine, although they didn’t have enough space to get all the buses scheduled at the same time into the limited parking area. Opening ceremonies was nicely done, but the closing ceremonies were a bit disappointing. Should have had both teams on stage and talks by both captains. It was nice to have tickets for the 1st tee box each day.
The golf courses we played were nice and in good condition, but lots of uphill and downhill climbing even with carts. I never realized Southern Spain was soooo hilly.
Great golf course but a lot of up hill and down hill walking. Not once did anyone check photo ID. The shuttle buses were a slight chaos. Great job by Premier getting reserved seats at the first tee!
Great experience. The logistics of the golf carts and pedestrians needed more thought to work together better . And the bus situation at the end was severely lacking. None of these issues had anything to do with Premier Golf though.
