British Open Championship 2015 — For those who’ve never been to an Open Championship and even for those that have, this year’s tournament at St. Andrews is not to be missed. Oozing with history, “The Home of Golf” is a very special venue for the 144th Open Championship (July 12-19, 2015). Walker Cup 2015 — This legendary event, a biennial 10-man amateur competition between the USA and a team comprised of players from Great Britain and Ireland, will take place September 12-13, 2015 at Royal Lytham & St. Annes in Lancashire, England. There are 18 singles matches and eight foursomes (alternate shot) matches. The rosters at the Walker Cup are always dotted with future PGA Tour stars. Everyone from Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods to Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose has played in a Walker Cup. Royal Lytham & St. Annes, which has hosted numerous major championships, including 11 Open Championships, 4 Women’s British Opens, two Ryder Cups and a Curtis Cup, is a spectacular venue for the 44th Walker Cup. Ryder Cup 2016 — Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota, site of numerous major championships, is the venue for the 2016 Ryder Cup (September 27 through October 2, 2016). Designed by Robert Trent Jones, this fabulous course opened for play in 1962. The small town of Chaska, which has a quaint historic district with shopping, dining and entertainment, is located 24 miles from the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area. There are several excellent golf courses to play in the region (Bluff Creek, Deer Run and Hidden Greens to name a few) and entertainment options like the Mall of America, the largest shopping and entertainment complex in the U.S. with more than 500 stores, an amusement park, aquarium and more than 50 restaurants.
