Sitting proudly at the highest point of the paradise Caribbean island of Barbados, Apes Hill is a golfing haven waiting to be explored. An abundance of highlights combine to create such a spectacular resort.
The golf course offers views across the island including both the western Caribbean Sea shoreline and the eastern Atlantic coast. While very playable for all standards, the layout offers a true test of your game, with undulations, exquisite green complexes, and tactical bunkering.
The par 3 16th ‘Cave Hole’ is the ultimate photo spot, as the green is backed by a dramatic arch formation in the rockface. Don’t miss the 19th hole, and island green par 3, based on TPC Sawgrass’ famed 17th hole.
The selection of new private villas are exquisitely finished making for the ultimate relaxed, luxury golf destination. The practice facilities are world-class, and the brand-new bar and pro shop complete the golf experience.
The 19 holes at Apes Hill are some of the most spectacular you will ever play. Geographically Apes Hill was always blessed, with the natural contours of Barbados’ spine mountains, sitting over 1,000 feet above the nearby ocean. The natural jungle vegetation and density of Palms add to the exotic drama when walking the fairways.
When Jeff Potts (an old Pete Dye associate) and Chris Cole designed the course, latterly updated by Ron Kirby, they maximized the typography and vistas, while providing a layout befitting its surroundings. Long sweeping par 5’s, dogleg par 4’s with significant undulations, and picturesque par 3’s combine for an unforgettable round you’ll be desperate to repeat.
