Adare Manor

Co. Limerick, Ireland

South West Ireland golf offers many enjoyable experiences to players of all abilities, none more so than Adare Manor. For Ireland golf vacations, it’s an excellent choice.

Originally designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. over 20 years ago, the course at Adare Manor in South West Ireland has always led the rankings for Ireland’s top parkland courses.

While the course has historically led the way for top golf in Ireland, its complete reimagining by Tom Fazio in 2018 catapulted the layout into the World’s Top 100.

The routing and hole order remain the same, with each hole now enjoying its own distinct personality. As part of an Ireland golf tour, players here can look forward to great risk/reward opportunities and healthy competition.

Already tournament-tested by owner J.P. McManus’ illustrious Pro-Am, the eyes of the golfing world will all be focused here when the venue hosts the 2027 Ryder Cup Matches.

The scenic routing covering 135 acres of the 840-acre estate takes advantage of wonderful vistas of the impressive castle-like manor house that was once the seat of the Earls of Dunraven along the banks of the River Maigue.

Adare Manor Resort

Ireland’s famous liquid sunshine which keeps the Emerald Isle green is no match for the technology installed during the renovation.

Like Augusta National GC, the greens here are equipped with Ireland’s first Sub Air system to regulate moisture levels. The fairways and rough areas are all sand-capped, the bunkers are outfitted with Capillary Concrete liners, and new underground drainage, irrigation, and water delivery systems were put in throughout the design.

Just as no expense was spared on the new course, JP McManus’ vision for creating the World’s #1 Resort was actualized by Conde Nast in 2022. If you’re planning an Ireland golf tour here, you’ll have various accommodation options in the original Manor House, new wing, Manor Lodges, and Manor Cottages. Each room invokes 19th-century grandeur, while simultaneously offering luxurious 21st-century amenities. The Signature Suites even feature Butler Service.

After a restful night’s sleep, get ready to explore one of the best courses in Ireland with a bountiful breakfast. The dining options at Adare Manor are second to none, with plenty of opportunities to try Ireland’s delicacies.

After golf, dine at the Michelin-starred ‘The Oak Room’ and enjoy a final nightcap of Bailey’s or Irish whiskey in one of the resort’s bars. If you’re keen to discover more of Ireland’s culture, you can even take part in whiskey tasting here.

Activities outdoors beyond the golf course are as varied as the menus. Falconry, fishing, cycling, shooting, axe throwing, archery, and walking trails are just some of the options. Indoors, the Padel Club features the first indoor Padel courts in Ireland. This is Europe’s fastest-growing sport, comparable to Pickleball.

A 17m pool, steam sauna, gym, and contemplative studio complete the indoor amenities here. The Spa at Adare is the first in Ireland to offer the luxurious experience of 111SPA/CLINIC treatments and products. Rest assured, your body and mind will be well taken care of at Adare Manor.

Exploring off-site is easy too. You’re just a short walk or cycle to the charming village of Adare and its authentic thatched roof cottages. Here, you’ll find colorful pubs, award-winning restaurants, shopping boutiques, and bars featuring traditional Irish music. If you’re keen to visit Adare Manor as part of your South West Ireland golf trip, it’s conveniently located just 25 minutes from Shannon International Airport.

Our trip was wonderful. The staff everywhere was great, the properties were outstanding and the touring was awesome. Needless to say, some of the best golf courses I have ever been on. Adare was not on my bucket list, but should have been!!

We played Old Head in slight rain but the location was magnificent. Waterville was good as the weather cooperated! Bally bunion was a trip. 50 mph gusts and drizzle! My caddie said he had been there for 17 years and had never seen a tougher day. But it was a great time.

Adare Manor was a real treat. What a great course!!
