Perennially ranked as one of the top courses in Portugal, Oitavos Dunes is the duel in the crown of Lisbon golf. Part of the Quinta da Marinha estate, the course weaves through the natural dunes of the Atlantic peninsula. The Arthur Hills design flows with the natural topography of the land, and when the wind picks up it can play very tough, completing the true links feel.
Contributing to the beauty of Oitavos Dunes is the lack of residential development, allowing for an immersive combination of golf and nature. Waste sand bunkers surround the fairways adding to the organic feel. Like any great course, this is a layout dictated by the landscape, quirks that demonstrate this include charming back-to-back par threes.
The clubhouse at Oitavos Dunes is an elegant and contemporary setting within the nature reserve, perfect for recounting the round that preceded. The 5* hotel is contemporary, almost clinically so, designed to maximize the 360-degree views of the ocean, headland, and rolling dunes. The nearby Guincho beaches are some of the world’s best for surfing and provide a dramatic natural backdrop.
Oitavos Dunes is a short distance from the popular beach town of Cascais, this former small finishing village has become go-to the weekend spot for Lisbon’s well-heeled residents. Filled with elegant restaurants and high-end accommodations, it is the ideal place for a relaxed evening after your round. We recommend Fortaleza do Guincho, with stunning views & Michelin star dining, it is a must when in Cascais

Oitavos Dunes is regarded as one of the most difficult courses in the Lisbon area, its difficulty is dependent on the wind, due to its exposed position on the headland.
The best place to play is the Oitavos Dunes (which is the name of the golf course), but we also recommend Penha Longa, West Cliffs, Praia D’El Rey, and Royal Óbidos in the Lisbon area.
The slope rating of the Oitavos Dunes is 128 and the course is known for its challenging greens and incredible ocean views.
The Green fees vary depending on the season, but these are included and clearly indicated in any Premier Golf package.
