West Cliffs Golf Course

As one of the newest additions to Portugal’s Silver Coast, West Cliffs has quickly become a must-play on any Lisbon golf tour. The perfect stop on any golf vacation in Portugal, West Cliffs is located just a one-hour transfer north of Portugal’s capital, Lisbon.

Designed by Cynthia Dye, niece of legendary architect Pete Dye, the layout of the West Cliffs course makes the most of its shoreline setting. A quirk of one of Portugal’s best golf courses is the lack of traditional tee boxes. Instead, players are encouraged to select a course length based on their ability and play from the locations accordingly. This is highly recommended on a course that demands several significant carries off the tee.

Habitat preservation was a key factor during the design and construction of West Cliffs. Waste sand bunkers and protected areas provide a sample of ongoing care and consideration to protect the natural environment.

West Cliff’s offers one of the finest clubhouses in Portugal, combining ecologically friendly materials and panoramic views of the dramatic Atlantic Ocean, the perfect place to relax after your round. 

Take the short drive to Peniche, a fascinating old fishing village, perched out on a rocky outcrop. Ensure you have time after your round to walk the quaint streets, and dine at a traditional Portuguese fish restaurant. We recommend ‘Xakra’, this beachfront fish restaurant might not seem much, but the seafood is perfection, and at a great price.
